Socially Useful Productive Work (SUPW) is a “purposive productive work and services related to the needs of the child and the community, which will be proved meaningful to the learner.
How is SUPW useful?
It makes learning effective and useful. It correlates knowledge with craft and theory with practice. It may help to increase national productivity and to self-employment. It leads to proper articulation between life and education.
What are the benefit of SUPW?
In addition to developing individual skills, SUPW aims to help develop among the students the habit to work as a community, encourage community thinking, increase awareness of scientific advancements and develop a scientific outlook.
Happiness does not result from what we get but from what we give..
The students of Horizon Academy (ICSE) carried out an activity of Sharing is Caring during Diwali by donating their clothes, toys and woollens under SUPW. On 27th November, 2021 the students of Grade IX were taken to Ashram School at Trimbakeshwar to hand over the collected items to the school in-charge Also an NGO members of Namaste Nashik too joined the cause. This drive was carried out to inculcate amongst the students the value of and make them aware that when we give to others , we don’t only make them feel happy but we get closer to them . This is because being generous and kind encourages us to perceive others in more positive light and fosters a sense of community or feeling of interconnectedness.
The above activity was carried out by the Horizon’s Social Squad teams. The Principal Dr Surekha Kulkarni gave all the support required.
