In Nashik city there is still a shortfall of around 1 crore trees in the city. At the same time the expenses and logistics required to prepare saplings for this campaign is huge. In order to contribute towards filling this huge gap, the interact club of MVP Samaj’s Horizon Academy (parent club Rotary Nashik East), conducted a Green Marathon in which students from class 5 to 10 were called in rotation and prepared the saplings in a completely natural way without the use of chemical fertilizers. Principal of Horizon Academy Kumudini Bangera, was instrumental in converting this idea into a reality and support was given by Headmistress Jyothi Samanta. The Project Mentor for the activity was Interact Club Coordinator & Secretary of Rotary Nashik East Hemlata Tolani, along with support from the club President Manoj Kalantri. Environmentalist Mr. Ramesh Iyer of GIVE foundation who is the brainchild behind project 'Ankur' and other members provided the know-how and logistical support required for the project.
